Elephant show - Camp Maesa, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Maesa Elephant Camp is probably one of the most famous of Thailand to see elephants making fantastic creative show, with the opportunity to touch, feed and ride them after! I must admit this was one of the main reason my wife wanted to go to Thailand! The show is stunning, and it’s impressive to see how well they paint (you can purchase the paint separately later!), they play sport and dance all together. They really look to be having fun, so it’s pretty nice… especially when you give them food at the end and they scream loud! The Maesa camp is located in the mountains of the region of Chiang Mai, which is a very beautiful place of Thailand.

Elephant ride to the village of Long Neck Girls and other tribes of Thailand

The ride is quite bumpy, but after 45 minutes, you arrive in a very nice place in the jungle, where you have 7 or 8 tribes of Thailand and the Asian region which are living here (definitely done for tourist purposes!). You can see the famous Long Neck Girls, which are really all beautiful and graceful. At same time, you can also purchase few souvenirs. This trip is probably one of the most impressive you can do in Thailand, and you see really kind and beautiful people which are still living very traditionally.

Bangkok Renaissance Hotel - a true modern and design hotel

What a good idea we had to go to the Bangkok Renaissance Hotel Ratchaprasong. This is probably one of the most beautiful and modern design hotel we’ve been so far. Very recent (probably finished in 2009 or 2010), the hotel is very well located in Ratchaprasong area, very close to all the commercial malls. The interior design is simply outstanding, and the ambiance it gives is just marvealous. First time we went to Renaissance chain hotel, definitely not the last (we also went to the Renaissance Phuket hotel!). Definitely worth the 5 stars it proudly owns.

Fantastic Asian Modern Design from Lobby to Swimming Pool on the top floor

The interio design is very united and you can see evolution of the theme (small lotus flowers with bright colors) from the Lobby to the bar, to the restaurant, to the conference and reception rooms, to the stairs, the parking, the lift, in the rooms and finally up to the spa swimming pool and fitness on the last floor, which also offers you a dramatic view on Bangkok. I can only recommend you to go there if you visit Bangkok and Thailand, prices are fair for this type of top leading hotel, and your journey in Bangkok will be definitely having a different flavor! We liked it so much that we came back at the end of our trip in Thailand on the last 2 days and we will probably come back next time we visit Bangkok. The staff is super friendly, and you are treated with the upmost level that only Asian knows how to give to their customers. In few words, perfect place!

Dusit place in Bangkok - a relaxing area to walk in a park

Dusit is located on the north of Bangkok, and has very beautiful parks, museum and zoo. Once unsual place for Asia is probably the Abhisek Dusit palace which very much looks like any castle in Switzerland or Austria, and which is a museum of traditional Thai handcraft art (Support Museum). The Dusit park is very nice, and it was surprising to find a collection of WW Wolkswagen Vans from the 60’s, probably there for some nice celebrations! There are also many varieties of exotic flowers which are really beautiful and render very well on photo!

Bangkok Wat Phra Kaeo Great Temple - the greatest of all the Bangkok Thai temples

The Bangkok Wat Phra Kaeo is in the historical downtown part of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. This is one of the best and most beautiful one you can find in Bangkok. It also carries the Great Palace of his Majesty the King. It used to be the garden of the city, but the royal family is not anymore leaving there, as they are now in Dusit, a northern area of Bangkok. To visit the temple, as in most of the Thai temples, you need to cover your legs until the knee.

This post follows other Thai Temple in Bangkok Wat Intharawihan. All shots are done with Canon 5D MKII, a full frame DSLR camera which is perfect for such architectural situations like here. It also renders the color cast very well, especially with color profile “Faithfull”.

Bangkok Wat Intharawihan - traditional Thai temple

Here are a few pictures shot with Canon EOS 5DMKII of a typical Thai Temple, the Wat Intharawihan. Gold Statue, peaceful ambiance, people free up birds to make their wish come true… Bangkok holds hundreds of similar temples.  

The Bangkok Wat Intharawihan is the first Thai temple we’ve visited. Then here are the photos of the Wat Phra Kaeo and Grand Palace in Bangkok. All shots are done with Canon 5D MKII, coupled with wide angle lenses that are great to make high impact architectural photos.
