The Bay of Phang Nga - An amazing place to visit by boat from Phuket Island

For my 30 years old birthday, we decided to visit the Bay of Phang Nga, located on the North West of Phuket Island in the Andaman Sea, in Thailand. We actually followed a single advertising panel we saw on the highway after the bridge leaving the Phuket island on the North, which took us after 30 minutes of car within the jungle on a fantastic modern pier (Klong Khian Pier) with no one there! After 2 minutes, a man came with his motorbike, and offered us to rent a boat for the day to visit the Phang Nga Bay. We were not sure about it but since he was really kind we said OK. A fisher man came with his daughter and took us through the bay for the day for not even half of of the usual price, and they took us to places that big boat would never go. We had a fantastic day, which we will never forget! There are hundreds of islands and rocks, with luxurious nature, cave and beach. The place is really beautiful, and going by boat is a fantastic experience. I can only recommend you to go to this Klong Khian Pier and ask for the boat trip, this is probably the best place to do it. Here is the G-Map link

The Panyi Fishing Village - Ko Panyi in Andaman Sea

The Ko Panyi island is a fishing village with about 200 families (probably from Indonesia) which is also a good touristic place to visit. You might eat and purchase a few souvenirs. However what stroke me the most was their football pitch and the kids playing football, on such a small place! 

The James Bond Island (The Man with the Golden Gun, 1974) - Ko Khao Phing Kan

You can visit the James Bond Island, Ko Khao Phing Kan not far from the rock Ko Tapu (the big rock which face the island and that everyone takes in photo). This place is simply amazing, where the James Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun” was shot in 1974 with Roger Moore and Christopher Lee. You must pay a ticket once arriving on the island, but the landscape is really great! A must see if you’re in Phuket!

Phuket Island Tour up to Patong, Thailand

The Puhket Island, Southern Thailand Beauty

We rent a car and made a full tour of the Phuket Island in Thailand, passing from North to the city of Phuket, then touring to the Southern point of the island (Cap Promthep) and then coming back to the hotel Renaissance via Kata Noi, Kata Yai, Karon and Patong Beach. The island is nice, and the beach are very diverse: crowded on the south west, empty and beautiful on the north! We had good time all over the island, but must admit staying at the Renaissance Hotel was such a nice place that we didn’t have much time going anywhere else during the week there! Patong is a very interesting place to see, not necessarily to stay! Enjoy the tour!

Neuschwanstein castle, legendary monument in Bavaria

The Neuschwanstein castle (schloss in German) is one of the most famous castle in the world, probably one of the most photographed and which inspired most of the people. It was built by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria as he wanted something new, fresh and never seen before. He quite succeeded, as the castle was even proposed for the 8th Wonder of the World. The exterior is very nice and highly recognizable. Interior is however a bit more “normal”, and you need to queue a lot to get your tickets (preferrably purchased via internet one or two days before!). It’s also interesting to walk around in the mountains, where you can get to an impressive bridge over the mountains which gives an unique view on the Castle, the most famous view that all photographer use. If you’re more brave, you can even go in the mountains to get more impressive plunging view on it (had not time, still have to drive to Munich!)

Chiang Mai Elephants ride to the village of Long Neck Girls and Other Tribes of Thailand - 45 photos shot with Canon 5D MKII

Elephant show - Camp Maesa, Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Maesa Elephant Camp is probably one of the most famous of Thailand to see elephants making fantastic creative show, with the opportunity to touch, feed and ride them after! I must admit this was one of the main reason my wife wanted to go to Thailand! The show is stunning, and it’s impressive to see how well they paint (you can purchase the paint separately later!), they play sport and dance all together. They really look to be having fun, so it’s pretty nice… especially when you give them food at the end and they scream loud! The Maesa camp is located in the mountains of the region of Chiang Mai, which is a very beautiful place of Thailand.

Elephant ride to the village of Long Neck Girls and other tribes of Thailand

The ride is quite bumpy, but after 45 minutes, you arrive in a very nice place in the jungle, where you have 7 or 8 tribes of Thailand and the Asian region which are living here (definitely done for tourist purposes!). You can see the famous Long Neck Girls, which are really all beautiful and graceful. At same time, you can also purchase few souvenirs. This trip is probably one of the most impressive you can do in Thailand, and you see really kind and beautiful people which are still living very traditionally.

Bangkok Wat Intharawihan - traditional Thai temple

Here are a few pictures shot with Canon EOS 5DMKII of a typical Thai Temple, the Wat Intharawihan. Gold Statue, peaceful ambiance, people free up birds to make their wish come true… Bangkok holds hundreds of similar temples.  

The Bangkok Wat Intharawihan is the first Thai temple we’ve visited. Then here are the photos of the Wat Phra Kaeo and Grand Palace in Bangkok. All shots are done with Canon 5D MKII, coupled with wide angle lenses that are great to make high impact architectural photos.
