Shoot concert pro pictures with Canon 5D MKII and Canon 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L USM

Following the first test I’ve made during the afternoon on Canon 5D MKII, I attached the Canon 100-400 4.5-5.6 L USM on my Canon 5D MKII and went to the free concert last Saturday night in Lausanne. The event was showcasing Swiss artists only, with free concerts in the street, a good occasion to see nice performance… and test the new material! The camera was responding very fast, and the lens was focusing almost instantly. The light conditions were pretty good, and shooting in this condition was again a real pleasure, delivering pretty nice ending results without even retouching on Lightroom. Even at ISO 3200 or 6400, the results are noise free and the final quality is quite impressive, look at the below samples.

Very nice Swiss band, with very nice and hot costumes, I’ve not put all the pictures since it was… too hot at the end of the concert!

Michael von der Heide

Swiss Pop, he was actually the last Swiss artist to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision. Good showman.
