Here is the Hohenschwangau castle in Bavaria, which is actually facing the Neuschwanstein castle. The castle is actually older than the most famous one, and it was the childhood residence of Ludwig II of Bavaria. The building is pretty nice, however less impressive than the white castle. About 1h from Munich.
